Brussels (18 November 2010) – Fire-safety requirements for Reduced Ignition Propensity (RIP) cigarettes, i.e. cigarettes that self-extinguish when not actively smoked, are now covered by a new European Standard, EN 16516 ‘Cigarettes – Assessment of the ignition propensity’.

The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) set up a Working Group to analyse the feasibility of a European Standard on halal food. Its first meeting was held late October 2010 by the Austrian Standards Institute in Vienna.

ETSI's test activities in the area of Electronic Signatures have resulted in a newly-published European Commission Decision and the creation of on-line test facilities that will enable Member States to confirm compliance with European regulations, thus facilitating cross-border transactions.&
