Cooperation agreement between PKN and Gosstandart of Belarus
On October 14th in Minsk representative of Polish Committee for Standardization signed a cooperation agreement with its Belarussian counterpart. The agreement was signed by Ms Jolanta Kochańska, vice-president of PKN, and by Mr Viktor Vladimirovich Nazarenko, Chairman of Gosstandart of Belarus.
The signing of an agreement on cooperation in the field of standardization between the Polish Committee for Standardization and the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus took place in an excellent scenery and timing, because at the same time in Minsk the 79th General Session of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was held, and the World Standards Day (October 14th) was celebrated.
The Minsk agreement was concludedfor five years and is aimed at harmonization of national standards of both countries, with a particular emphasis on those industries which are of common interest to both sides. The agreement creates the conditions for strengthening and deepening of technical and economic cooperation between the Poland and the Republic of Belarus, aimed at eliminating technical barriers to trade. It allows also the free exchange of ideas, information and knowledge on standardization between the two institutions, providing a framework for regular meetings of experts of both sides. Thanks to the agreement the parties will be able to exchange information of key projects on standards and standardization undertaken from one side by the European Union and by the Customs Union from the other (composition of Custom Union comprises the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation).
This year marks 11 years since PKN and Gosstandart of the Republic of Belarus have established a cooperation. The agreement signed in Minsk is the third standardization cooperation agreement concluded by the two institutions.
