Summary of the jubilee year 2024 – 100 years of standardization
The essence of standardization, as shaped in the 1920s, is still relevant and consistent with current views, and at the same time open to the broadly understood future. Modern standardization faces the challenges of global warming, cybersecurity, sustainable development, environmental protection and the development of technology – from artificial intelligence to hydrogen technologies and intelligent transport systems. These challenges motivate us to act, and the future of standardization promises to be extremely interesting. The new Technical Committees established in recent years – for Artificial Intelligence, Hydrogen Technologies and Processes, Smart and Sustainable Development of Cities and Communities, and Quantum Technologies – are the best example of this.
2024 was a special year for the Polish Committee for Standardization – we celebrated the 100th anniversary of our activity. It was a time of reflection on the history and achievements of the institution, but also an opportunity to look into the future of standardization as a key element of the development of the economy and society.
The anniversary celebrations included:
- The international conference "Standardization in the Face of New Challenges", which gathered over 200 experts from Poland and abroad.
- The anniversary gala, an opportunity to honor partners and promote the importance of standards.
- A ceremony for employees, during which we expressed our appreciation for their involvement in the development of PKN.
The anniversary celebrations also included educational activities, such as the "Standardization and Me" competition and media campaigns that increased public awareness of the role of standards.
The 100th anniversary celebrations allowed us to emphasize the importance of PKN on the international stage, strengthening Poland's position in organizations such as ISO and IEC. In the coming year, we will continue our activities, responding to challenges related to, among others, hydrogen technologies, artificial intelligence and sustainable development.
We thank everyone who accompanied us in this exceptional year!
