"Standardization for Smart Cities" - conference

The second edition of a conference "Standardization for Smart Cities" took place on November 16th at EuroCentrum Office Complex in Warsaw. The event was organized by the Polish Committee for Standardization.

The smart cities concept requires directing their sustainable development i.a. through introducing changes in energy efficiency, transport and communications, infrastructure and ecology. They are closely related to modern technology and investing in knowledge and society.

Smart City will not be built without standards. These standards contain expert knowledge and best practices that cities can use and adapt to their individual needs.

The conference participants discussed how standardization shapes and supports cities of the future. Among others, the topics discussed included standardization initiatives, safety while executing the smart city strategy, the objectives, benefits and challenges of the transformation into a smart city as well as the certification process for compliance with the PN-ISO 37120 standard.
